It cannot be published without the contributions of four national heritage institutions, nine national renowned universities, five literature and history research institutions, and three publishers. Forty-eight experts and over a hundred supporting staff participated in the compilation. It concentrates approximately 25,000 precious pictures from Japan, the United States, mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan collected by individual persons or public institutions. The major historical facts concerning Japanese militarist invasion of China are represented, including Japanese robbery in China’s Southeast coast in Ming Dynasty, the Sino-Japanese war in 1894, Japanese surrender in 1945 and the Tokyo Trial in 1946 in a systematic, direct and vivid way from the perspective of first-hand and on-spot pictures.
